Natalie Lorraine

My niece Natalie Lorraine joined the family Saturday, April 21st at 5:27 pm.

Yes, my sister endured 32 hours of labor, followed by a cesarean section when it was determined there had not been enough progress to warrant additional labor. She was 8lbs 2 oz and 21.25″ long. She was trying to come out with the side of her head instead of the top.

There was not much knitting progress as most of what I did knit was either so badly off the original gauge or just had way too many mistakes to keep so no knitting photos today.

I have a lot to catch up on so I will leave ya’ll with the only baby photo I managed to get on my camera (of course there will be more once my mom gets home). My sister is obviously the one in blue, I am wearing the glasses and the gorgeous baby is Natalie Lorraine.

I think the credit card needs to be iced….

I had way to much fun shopping today after work.  I went to the yarn store and bought a bunch few things, but I refuse to comment on the exact total.  Lets just say I can make 3 more pairs of Panda Cotton socks, another Koigu pair, another brand I forget the name of, and a pair with Great Adirondack’s Silke (spelling?).  Not to mention 2 patterns (a shawl - like I need another shawl pattern and a pattern for socks) 3 sets of DPNs and then the big purchase.

I want to make a sweater from Big Girl Knits, but since unfortunately I am a tad bigger than the largest size for the sweater I had to buy an extra skein (I got 2 extra skeins to be safe).  Since I live in the South I decided to go for Cotton Fleece instead of the Lamb’s Pride I originally thought about.  This means I bought 8 skeins of Cotton Fleece in the color Salmon Berry Red - a gorgeous color that I am pretty sure will look really good on me.

I have also broke down and tried my hand at spinning on a spindle (one I made with a wooden toy wheel & dowel).  So, originally I got white BFL roving to use, which is really nice if a little boring.  Since I have realized I like spinning (so much so that I think I am going to ask the family to think about  chipping in for a group Christmas gift of a wheel) I decided to get some roving with some color.  The LYS sells roving in a bag that is called Northern Nights in the color Toffee.  I really liked the colors so a bag came home with me.

Then I bought some clothes.  Now I am a big girl, but again I did mention I live in the South right, but I really like those dresses that have the smocked top with the straightish skirt.  So I found 3 that I really liked at Ross, along with two cute crocheted cardigans.  Since the price was so good on the cardigans they came home with the dresses.  Then I found a pair of Birkenstock’s (well the Butella type anyway, that I think are in my mom’s size) so those came home.  Plus I bought two more baby outfits for my sister.

As you can probably tell this post is about anything, but KNITTING and that is because I have done almost no knitting this week.  I have just been exhausted, which I think is from the mad dash to the finish for my class.

This weekend bodes well for knitting though because I am making the 9 hour one-way trip to my sister’s as she is being induced tomorrow.  Yes, not only does this mean 18 hours in a car, but it also means that my niece will most likely be here before I get there (since I can’t leave here until noon and she is being induced at 8am ET - I’m in CT).  I will get to see her though.

So, I will be back on Monday - hopefully with baby, yarn and knitting pictures.

I got a B

Yay, I finished my class and managed to get a B.  It may not be the best grade, but I think since I taught myself that this is pretty good.  Over the next 12 courses I now that my knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology will increase.  Well this was just a very quick post.  I am off to go knit or read a book or watch a movie - anything but study.

Wow….A Lot to share and so little time.

As the title states I don’t have much time to post to my blog right now, but I have been busy knitting in between my studying sessions. I have to say that had I known how hard Anatomy & Physiology would be to take online I would have tried to get a local school to allow me to attend for just this course - the rest of the course is online since none of the local schools offer it.

I have managed to finish nothing, but I have managed to add to the wonderful WIP pile and to also enhance the stash to record proportions. I do have one project that is almost done - a Huggable Hedgehog from FiberTrends (ya’ll are on your own for links right now as there is not enough time for them) that is actually for a Christmas gift - imagine that a gift that is almost done with many months to spare.

I have also started another sock - just so I could learn how to make toe up socks. Then I am making a Cozy from Knitty.com in Black Manos del Uruguay Cotton Stria for my mom - another Christmas gift in progress. Then there are two more Huggable Hedgehogs - one for my aunts baby for Christmas (another gift in progress) and one for a co-worker’s baby shower. I am also still knitting on my 2nd sock of my 1st pair, Sunset Seraphim, two scarves, a baby blanket for my aunt and a face cloth.

I also have the yarn sitting on my desk for 4 sets of baby things - the baby bib & the burp cloth from Mason Dixon Knitting (I finally broke down and bought it). I am making 1 bib with 1 burp cloth in 4 colors (a pink one & a yellow one for my sister; a blue set for my aunt; and a blue set for my co-worker). I have got to make one of those kimono sweaters for my niece as well. Then there are the many other projects I have the yarn & pattern for that are patiently waiting for my attention.

Between school and some things going on at work I have not really been feeling really great about life and then Monday I came home to this:

SP10 Package

And look there is a clue - my secret pal package came from Canada. Does this mean she lives there or was she sneaky and have a friend send it to me? Only time will tell.

Look at how pretty it was inside:

And see the wonderful goodies:

I just love these earrings:

And oh my - I have been wanting to try this yarn so badly, but every time I try to purchase 1 skein from theloopyewe.com I end up with a full basket and end up not ordering anything since I can’t choose. I am unsure about the colorway, but it is beautiful. Thanks so much secret pal. Now off to the grindstone I go.

Welcome to my nightmare…………

I am currently cramming studying for my final nightmare exam and am pulling my hair out just a little busy. This means that those lovely photos I promised you will be up sometime in the future, but not too sure as to when.

To secret pal 10 participants, please bear with me - this will all be over shortly.
