Warning: There will be several photos in this post so be warned. I have sized the photos down from my normal size though - if you want more detail clicking on the photos will take you to flickr where you can see a larger photo.
Wow, I have no real excuse for being gone for so long. I will try to update as much as possible tonight and will try to get back on some type of blogging schedule, but don’t hold me to anything alright?
First up - Ravelry. I jumped on the bandwagon because even though I am not a very organized knitter I need to be since the parents are getting very upset at seeing the yarn enter the house, but not seeing any actual finished knitting. So , hopefully I will be able to get better organized once I get my invite. La asked who was ahead of her and I am happy to say that I am ahead of her. According to Ravelry’s checker I am:
Found you!
- You signed up on June 4, 2007
- You are #6702 on the list.
- 802 people are ahead of you in line.
- 11138 people are behind you in line.
- 32% of the list has been invited so far
I am hoping that this means I will be getting my invite soon. I am also looking forward to the ability to search patterns for photos of FOs as I normally like to see what the object looks like knit by someone other than the designer or test knitter.
On to other things. I promise there will be some knitting and fiber content (even though there will be no photos of WIPs), but first up are some updates on my niece and SP10.
On the niece front there is the news that she was baptized on July 15th. Photos of her in her gown will be forthcoming (I failed to take any myself so have to get one from my mom). The gown was gorgeous though - my mom handmade it in a traditional manner (I think it was French Sewing?). I did take this photo of her waiting to leave for church (since the baptism is after the Mass she wore something else to church - my sister and her husband are Catholic).

This is Phoenix in his cage right before we left - he was trying to act like a spanked puppy to garner sympathy, but all it did was inspire me to take his photo.

We had a very busy weekend since we left Alabama at noon on Friday and had to be back so I could work this morning, but it was worth it to see my sister’s family. I just wish Indiana was a little closer to Alabama.
I received my final SP10 package a while ago and had to have my secret pal reveal herself to me because even though she had put her name on the package the post office had blacked it out for some reason.

She bought me one of the books I had been wanting for a while.

Right now there are no plans to start anything in the book since I have so much on the needles, but as soon as I can justify it I am going to decide on something and start it. Right now I am having a lot of fun looking through it and dreaming of what I want to make first.
I have been very bad about purchasing things and have bought some Baby Alpaca roving from Alpaca With A Twist from my LYS.

I tried spinning a small amount of it and am in love, but the spindle I have was made from a wooden dowel and toy wheel so before I spin up the alpaca I want to get a better spindle (since a wheel is out for the foreseeable future). I also bought another skein of sock yarn.

It is Colinette Jitterbug in Bright Charcoal.

While I was buying that I also bought two circular needles in US2 to try the two circular method of sock knitting - I think I have found the way I will prefer to knit socks. I have already finished sock 1 with this yarn. I decided to give the Monkey Sock pattern a try, but going toe up per advice found on WendyKnits. I am sorry I don’t have a photo, but will try to get one soon. I think the colorway is a little dark for the pattern, but I really do love the way the pattern works up. I have also been working on several other socks and will try to get photos and an update on them in the near future.
Well, I have to be up early to work so I will let ya’ll go for now. Hopefully I will be back this week with another update for ya’ll.
