Rest in Peace

My uncle Brandon passed away on Thursday, January 10th around 9:30 am. We knew it was coming since the accident had left him brain dead and the life support was being turned off, but it was still so hard. He was only 23 years old and had his whole life in front of him. This is the only photo I have of him available so I might add more photos once I get back to Alabama. The funeral will be on Saturday, January 12th. I imagine this will be very hard for everyone, but I know that the date will forever be remembered - especially since that is my mom’s birthday.

Edited to Add: I edited this post so I could post a link to Brandon’s obituary.

Please Pray

I am posting from Michigan at the present. On Monday we got the call that my 23 year old uncle was in a really bad accident and was in critical condition. The roads were foggy and wet and he appears to have crossed the center line and hit a semi head on. It appears that he will most likely not make it. I ask that you pray for peace for him and our family in this difficult time.

Waiting on photos of my FOs

I did manage to finish 2 things by the last weekend of December, but I am waiting on my sister to take and upload photos as I managed to forget to take any.  I finished the Baby Surprise Jacket and the Huggable Hedgehog for my niece for Christmas.

I am also working diligently on my Feather and Fan Shawl from Folk Shawls.  I am not even sure if I mentioned that to ya’ll as a WIP.  I also finally decided to frog my sweater I was working on from Big Girl Knits and use the yarn for Wicked by Zephyr Style.  I am cruising away on the yoke increases right now.  I am also plugging away on a pair of basic socks out of some STR in I believe the Pink Granite colorway.  I will try to use Sunday (which I have off) to get some photos taken and uploaded of the current WIPs I am actually working on.  I want to get the shawl and sweater done in the next month or two so that I can get back to my Sunset Seraphim and the black Cozy as I want to make those into Christmas gifts this year since they didn’t get done for 2007.

I took stock of my stash and current WIP pile and realized that as long as I live at home (with my parents) there is no way I can manage to keep acquiring yarn and starting projects at the rate I have been.  Even though I have storage room in the craft room, that only allows my cross stitch, beading and scrapbooking supplies to be stored in there (along with some of my books).  All of my yarn is stored in my bedroom.  When I realized that in order to store all of my yarn in the closet or under furniture required me to store clothes in the hamper I decided that I had to get in control of my yarn addiction and startitis.  I hope that I can manage to stay on track with my decision to knit from my stash this year and to also finish WIPs instead of casting on for new projects.  Those are  the only goals I am setting for myself this year.
